“One of the things I love about working in the Roastery is that I can go to the supermarket, see our products on the shelves and I’ll feel connected to the world through coffee. I can pick up a pack and read the label, and will know where it’s produced, when it was made – I might even know the colleagues who roasted it.”
"We see the story behind the numbers so we can really drive and support the business. If you have the passion to make an impact, this could be the place for you."
"From Istanbul, to Johannesburg, to Amsterdam, in every office I have worked in, what I realised is how amazing the people are. One of the things I believe I do is to make a difference in the consumer's life. So I take my strength from people. But that's true for my colleagues as well: our people are smart, fun to work with and really bring something to the table."
We’re thrilled to report a strong set of results for FY2024!
While enjoying your coffee or tea, take a look at our key highlights for the year.
Consumers are at the heart of everything we do and we know they love our diverse range of products and formats. So we keep innovating to ensure we delight them time after time 😊. In 2024, we launched a range of new products such as L'OR Iced Coffee, Peet's Ultra Coffee Concentrate in the U.S., OldTown's Hot & Cold premium instant mixes in Asia and the roll-out of the first fully recyclable at-home paper refill pack for soluble coffee across 17 markets.” 🚀
In addition to financial success, we are also proud of our progress in our sustainability agenda: We achieved the highest score amongst all food companies in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index, and were honoured to receive the Catalyst Inc. Award for our commitment to an inclusive future, embracing and serving everyone. 🌟
We welcome Yang Xu who will succeed CFO Scott Gray as of Mid-May. We look forward to embarking on the next chapter under her guidance!

As we reflect on World Children’s Day, we are pleased to share that our scores increased by 0.8, reaching a total of 7.5 in the 2024 Global Child Forum Children's Rights and Business Benchmark, developed in partnership with the Boston Consultancy Group. 📈 This achievement places us at the forefront of the benchmark, significantly exceeding the sector average of 4.6 for Food & Beverage.
Although we take pride in our progress, our work is not done yet. Unfortunately, children’s rights are still not a given; for instance, child labour still occurs in the tea and coffee industry. This underscores the importance of monitoring and intervention in high-risk areas, as well as tackling root causes. Through our Common Grounds programme and our Assess, Address & Progress approach, we are collaborating with partners to tackle these challenges and contribute to the solution. This dedication helps us realise our purpose of unleashing the possibilities of coffee and tea to create a better future. 🌟

Why it is vital to help coffee farmers increase production amid rising climate challenges
Coffee farming thrives in a vibrant, biodiverse environment, but it also greatly relies on the weather. This makes it even more important for coffee farmers to have the knowledge needed to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change.
That’s why we're dedicated to supporting coffee farmers by providing them with the skills to cultivate their coffee in ways that help them cope with extreme weather while boosting their yields and, ultimately, their income.
Hear more on how we empower coffee farmers from Laurent Alexandre Sagarra, VP Sustainability of JDE Peet’s at FoodDrinkEurope, and explore our impact here: https://lnkd.in/eSvsqjdN

☀️ Harnessing the power of the sun!
There are many ways in which we are reducing our footprint, including making our sites more energy efficient and shifting to more renewable energy sources. That is why we’re excited to announce another sustainability milestone at our Athens site – the launch of solar panels! 🌱
With our new solar station, 20% of our Athens site’s annual electricity needs are powered by the sun. This will help considerably reduce the carbon footprint of our factory – and we’re just getting started! Our next step? Expanding solar capacity by 130 MWh per year. The rest of the site’s energy needs are met by 100% certified green electricity. 🌍⚡
This achievement is part of our broader sustainability journey, led by the Common Grounds programme. Through initiatives like Responsible Sourcing, Minimising Footprint, and Connecting People, we’re creating a future where every cup of coffee or tea makes a positive impact. ☕🍃

JDE Peet’s is proud to introduce Avanza Café, a new initiative partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and TechnoServe aimed to transform coffee farming across Central America. By training over 35,000 farmers in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, we’re working to boost coffee yields by 25%, cut carbon emissions, and raise household incomes by an average of 25%. The project will involve an investment of $15.3 million.
With a focus on regenerative agriculture, Avanza Café helps farmers adopt sustainable practices that not only improve productivity but also enhance resilience to climate challenges.
This initiative is a powerful example of how we bring our purpose to life - unleashing the possibilities of coffee and tea to create a better future - and of our Common Grounds programme, which positively impacts communities, the environment, and the coffee industry.

As we gear up for the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), we’re spotlighting our commitment to protecting nature — hoping to inspire others to take action, too.
Why is biodiversity important to us?
Coffee depends on a healthy and biodiverse environment. That’s why we’re dedicated to safeguarding ecosystems through sustainable practices like shade-grown coffee, which helps preserve biodiversity hotspots, protects bird habitats, and prevents soil erosion.
So, what exactly do we do?
Our global projects, from Kenya to Zambia, showcase how sustainable coffee farming benefits both nature and communities. In Gusii, Kenya, we’re collaborating with the Rainforest Alliance to enhance biodiversity, improve livelihoods, and build resilience against climate and economic challenges. In Zambia, we’re partnering with NCCL to support a mutually beneficial relationship between bees and coffee plants, boosting yields and empowering local communities. We’ve also recently launched a biodiversity playbook challenge to guide our factories in enhancing biodiversity at our sites.

Can agricultural waste products be used to grow coffee more sustainably? A new partnership between JDE Peet's Brazil, Universidade Federal de Lavras and NKG Fazendas Brasileiras will study the use of #biochar in Brazilian coffee farming and how it can be used to cut carbon emissions, improve soil quality and increase farmer yields.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫? A charcoal obtained through the burning of biomass, like coffee husk or sugarcane residue. When applied on the soil, it works as a sponge contributing to greater water absorption and nutrient retention. Biochar is also a solution to carbon removal from the atmosphere, since its main chemical component is carbon.
We're proud to be part of this innovative public-private partnership, just one of the ways we are working to support more sustainable agriculture in Brazil and around the world.

Hummingbird Coffee, one of our leading brands in New Zealand (NZ), has brought new life to areas of Christchurch affected by the 2011 earthquake 🌳
Hummingbird, a homegrown Christchurch brand, partnered with a NZ charity called The Green Lab to support the creation of the Te Kohanga Taiao Sensory Nature Play Park in the Avon-Ōtākaro Forest Park, now open to the public. The park brought a deserted residential area in Christchurch back to life, having been part of the original ‘red zone’ devastated by the earthquake. The project also champions sustainability by using recycled materials and eco-friendly practices.
In addition to Hummingbird’s financial support, volunteers from JDE Peet's NZ rolled up their sleeves to make this vision a reality, alongside civil society and members of the community.
At JDE Peet's we believe it is our responsibility to bring people together, and we're proud to see our brands like Hummingbird Coffee making such a difference in local communities.

Today we are committing to newly validated Science Based Targets initiative (#SBTi) targets as part of our Common Grounds sustainability programme. Science-based targets give companies a clearly-defined path to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. SBTi’s FLAG Guidance provides the world’s first framework for companies in land-intensive sectors to set science-based targets that include land-based emission reductions and removals.
We believe that coffee, globally, can be grown in a Net Zero way by 2050 if we work together – across the industry and with farmers. We have made considerable progress in reducing our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in 2023, and are proud to announce these new targets to continue to drive reductions for a planet-positive future.

We continue to partner with smallholder farmers and workers in tea communities along with NGOs, local and national governments along our tea supply chain and are on track to meet our goal of 100% responsibly sourced tea in 2025.
We were particularly proud to support the Healthier Diets for Everyone in Tea Communities initiative in India, Malawi and Kenya. Tea workers and farmers, predominantly women, often contend with high rates of malnutrition due to diets lacking essential nutrients. Swipe to find some key stats from this project.

Our vision is “A Planet Free of Packaging Waste” and we have set clear targets to ensure we are minimising the impact of the packaging we use.
Our efforts are focused on transitioning to 100% recyclable, compostable or reusable materials and reducing the amount of packaging per cup sold ☕. One example is our recently redesigned Douwe Egberts Ready-To-Drink cup. The new design reduced the use of virgin plastic by approximately 44% compared to the previous version, and made the cup recyclable.
Delivering on our packaging commitments requires innovation, collaboration, technical development and effort across our entire organisation. It's what we need to do to protect our planet and the future of coffee & tea.

Soil serves as the cornerstone of life, supplying 95% of our food—including coffee and tea—and is essential in the fight against climate change. UN reports indicate that the planet loses 24 billion tons of fertile land each year. Soil depletion makes it harder for the soil to help fight climate change by absorbing carbon. Meanwhile, climate change worsens soil problems like erosion and salinisation. JDE Peet's is committed to protecting this important resource by using sustainable practices.
In Brazil, for example, we empower smallholder coffee farmers with regenerative techniques like cover cropping, improving fertility, reducing erosion, and boosting carbon sequestration (capturing and storing atmospheric carbon). In Colombia, we’re addressing soil erosion and degradation by promoting contour planting, organic fertilisers, and innovative solutions like turning coffee pulp into compost to improve structure and water retention, and biogas, all while supporting local farmers and empowering women.
Our commitment to soil is an important aspect of our Common Grounds program and one of our nine focus areas in our Responsible Sourcing Principles. Together, these initiatives foster a sustainable future where coffee, communities, and nature coexist harmoniously. Women play a crucial role in coffee production. We are dedicated to empowering the women in our supply chain by providing them with knowledge of their rights as workers and training in best practices for coffee cultivation. In #Honduras, we are proud to work with our partners Fundacion CoHonducafe and USAID to support the Gender Equality Coffee Alliance Project, an education program working with women in the smallholder coffee farmer community.
There is no place in our supply chain for gender discrimination. We believe responsible sourcing of coffee and tea is about understanding the risks in our supply chain and taking action through programs like this one to improve outcomes for everyone.

As Laurent Alexandre Sagarra, our VP #Sustainability, explains, at JDE Peet's we believe coffee can change lives. Responsibly sourcing coffee means addressing problems on the ground to create real impact, whether that’s improved yields for farmers or reduced deforestation. In short, better outcomes for people and planet.
Laurent shared some thoughts on our approach at the recent #IdeasFest held by FoodDrinkEurope in Brussels. Listen here & learn more about our #JDEPeetsCommonGrounds program at https://lnkd.in/eaPzzufQ www.jdepeets.com
Tackling #Scope3 emissions is an important step on the road to net-zero, but remains a challenge for businesses. At JDE Peet's we are taking an end-to-end sustainability approach, working with our partners along the supply chain, in our efforts to reduce emissions and waste as we strive towards a planet-positive future.
It was great to see our own Simon Fox, who leads our efforts to minimise our environmental footprint — a key pillar of our Common Grounds programme — take to the edie stage to speak with other industry leaders on how we're addressing this next stage of our sustainability journey.
Simon focused on how unlocking solutions to a net-zero value chain requires two main things:
🤝 Collaboration: working together and taking an inclusive approach to reduce risk in our value chain
🌱 Systemic Change: supporting farmers to become more climate resilient, improving their incomes while improving sustainable growing practices.

We are pleased to announce that we are continuing our efforts combating deforestation, having signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with #Honduras, #Peru and #Rwanda.
The MOUs follow JDE Peet’s recent commitment to newly validated near-term and net-zero #SBTi targets, including specific SBTi Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) targets. JDE Peet’s commitments to deforestation are further captured in its expanded Forest Policy, which aims to protect forests through responsible sourcing principles and guidance and expectations for suppliers.

Last week we celebrated the opening of Malaysia's first large scale cage-free egg farm. A partnership between our brand #OldTown White Coffee and Teong Choon Poultry Farm will supply OldTown café’s Malaysian locations with eggs from cage-free hens. Laurent Alexandre Sagarra, our Vice President, Sustainability, joined the Wings of Progress for Better Welfare event to mark the occasion.
While our business is largely plant-based, it is our responsibility to ensure that any products of animal origin are responsibly sourced from suppliers committed to promoting better standards in quality, safety and animal welfare. That's why we are working towards sourcing all eggs and egg-based ingredients in our products from cage-free hens.

Producing amazing cups of responsibly sourced coffee and tea is not a simple exercise. As part of our Common Grounds program, we believe that securing the future of coffee and tea requires more prosperous living for smallholder farmers.
Since 2015, we have increased our investment and partnerships in key sourcing regions, to ensure our responsibility starts with farmers and workers in the supply chain. Our goal is to develop resilient environmental and socio-economic systems to safeguard our collective future.

All around the world people pause to connect over a cup of coffee. In #Norway, where the average person drinks more than five cups of coffee per day, this is especially true!
We’re proud to support Kirkens Bymisjon, one of Norway’s biggest charitable organizations, and their community cafés – cafés where people in need can drop in for a conversation, support or a moment of rest over a coffee. Our brand #Friele, the oldest roastery in Norway, donated more than 1 million cups of coffee in 2023 to support these moments of community and connection. Many of these cups are poured by our colleagues who have the opportunity to volunteer at Kirkens Bymisjon.
